Joe recently stopped by the office of Mike Stevens, Communications Director for the City of Salem, to share the news about the publication of The Coach Gaither Story.

Mike, the former Sports Sports Director at WDBJ TV, is a longtime friend and supporter of Joe’s. Mike was involved with The Carver Project, a documentary about Carver Consolidated School that was located in Salem during segregation. As described in the The Coach Gaither Story, Joe was a Junior at Carver in 1966, the year that Carver was closed. Joe graduated from Andrew Lewis High School in 1967.
