Coach Joe Gaither was among the ten distinguished community leaders honored at The Art of Leaders event held on May 14, 2025, at the Jefferson Center in Roanoke. The celebration featured ten original oil portraits created by Roanoke artist Whitney C. Brock, each recognizing a local leader whose service, example, and quiet influence have strengthened the region. The project highlighted individuals who inspired Brock through their dedication, compassion, and devotion to uplifting others.
Reflecting on her portrait sessions with Gaither, Brock wrote:
“Joe Gaither is truly a remarkable human. He has impacted many young lives and still does. I think Joe and I talked just about every day while I was painting him. I always sat up straighter and had more confidence after we spoke. Yes, he is a gift to our fine community! Thank you, Joe!”
